Derek is a CDIP LA & CIP qualified Major & Complex Loss Adjuster. He joined McLarens as an Executive Adjuster in February 2024 having worked in the insurance industry since 2005. During this time, he acquired a wide spectrum of expertise and experience dealing with property, liability & travel claims for major insurers. Derek worked with Sedgwick from 2005 having numerous roles during his 16 years plus with them. Derek was Regional Manager of the Leinster Branch from 2015 to 2018, before taking over as Property Operations Director in 2018 until leaving Sedgwick in 2021.
Derek was an integral member of the first response team to work in Bermuda following numerous hurricanes to impact the island. His international special risks adjusting brought him to Bermuda on multiple occasions adjusting large and complex claims including commercial, domestic & Government losses.
Following his departure from Sedgwick Derek joined RSA in January 2021 where he gained invaluable experience working with a major Insurer in their Specialist & Complex Claims Team.
Derek’s specific experience includes Commercial and Domestic losses specializing in the fields of, Large Losses Commercial & Domestic, Business Interruption, International Hurricane and Large Loss Emergency Response Team, Client Account Management, Audit, QA, Fraud and Operational Management.
Derek is also involved with the following associations: Member Insurance Institute of Ireland and Member of Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters.
