After starting his career at State Farm in 1989, Gordon worked numerous hail storms, freeze events, tornadoes, the Northridge Earthquake, and Hurricane Andrew. He was recognized for his outstanding customer service skills before moving to Allstate in 1998. While at Allstate, he again worked hail and wind storms, freeze events, lake effect snow losses and hurricanes Charlie, Francis, Ivan, Jeannie, Katrina and Rita as a member of the Allstate CAT team. He is believed to have serviced the first insureds after Hurricane Katrina, while running the Mobile Response Unit for Allstate in Harrisburg, MS. He was on the ground and taking customers less than 24 hours after Katrina made landfall in Mississippi.
In 2011 he became an independent adjuster specializing in commercial losses. In 2012 Core Underwrites asked him to run their estimating unit, working with other independent adjusters to prepare estimates and reach agreed measures with commercial insurance customers for wind, hail, water, and fire losses.
Liberty Mutual requested he work in their large loss complex claims unit in 2013.In 2016 Gordon joined McLarens, working hurricanes Harvey, Ian, and the CAT Elliot winter freeze in February 2021, in addition to the Texas Wildfires in the spring of 2021. He became an Executive General Adjuster in April 2023.
Gordon was a NCAA certified basketball official from 1992 – 2004. He continues to officiate volleyball in Texas and is currently the Vice President of the Dallas Volleyball Officials Association.
Gordon earned 4 varsity letters at Southern Methodist University in basketball from 1977 – 1981 while earning his Bachelors of Business Administration from the Cox School of Business. He also ran track for the Mustangs in 1978.
He is currently a member of the SMU Lettermen’s Board and a member of the Cross Timbers Rotary Club, winning the President’s Award in 2022 and continues to volunteer for various community projects.
