Press Release: Airclaims appoints Managing Director

Veteran McLarens adjuster to take on newly created Airclaims Managing Director role in review of McLarens Group Structure Announcement is part of post-merger alignment of McLarens and Airclaims

February 2013

Nigel Minett, a veteran McLarens adjuster with 36 years’ experience in the loss adjusting industry, has been appointed Managing Director Airclaims, in a newly created role for the world’s leading provider of claims, risk and asset management services to the global aviation community. At the same time it was mutually agreed that Mark Hunter, CEO of Airclaims, would leave the Company. The announcement comes 18 months after its merger with McLarens, the global loss adjusting group with a niche focus on complex and commercial claims, and is part of the post-merger review of the McLarens group structure. The review also sees the appointment of Mark Adderley as McLarens Regional Manager in London.

Nigel Minett has been with McLarens for 22 years, having held senior management positions at a regional, national and international level. A qualified adjuster, Nigel will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of Airclaims, as well overseeing the continued global expansion of the company. His career at McLarens has focussed on the development of the global business, having spent thirteen years on overseas assignments, including five years in Mexico City where he built the group’s Latin American operations. Most recently, Nigel operated as Executive Director in the McLarens London office and specialised in the handling of major and complex losses for the UK and international markets.

Mark Adderley takes on the role of McLarens Regional Manager in London, reporting to Executive Director Graham Smart. Mark, a qualified adjuster with 23 years of experience of dealing with commercial claims, including holding management positions in a number of major adjusting firms across the UK, will now be responsible for overseeing the London and South-East region.

Mark Hunter joined Airclaims in February 1984 and served in a number of Senior Management and Board roles, most notably Finance Director & Company Secretary (between 1992 and 2005), Chief Operating Officer (2005 to 2006) before becoming Chief Executive Officer (2006 to 2013).

Vern Chalfant, McLarens President and Chief Executive Officer, commented: “Following the merger of the two businesses in 2011 and Airclaims’ subsequent integration into McLarens, there is no longer a requirement for a CEO at Airclaims’ level in the revised group structure and it was mutually agreed that Mark would leave the Company. We are grateful to Mark for his contribution pre and post transaction, during which his integrity, team working and management skills were invaluable.

We are an operations-led, rather than a management-led, business and Airclaims now requires a different set of expertise. Nigel Minett is someone who I have worked closely with over the years and I have the utmost confidence in his management capabilities. A key aspect of the rational for the merger was the opportunity to expand Airclaims’ offering through McLarens’ global network. Having operated as an expat in five different postings and dealt with claims in over 100 jurisdictions, Nigel’s international expertise will therefore be extremely valuable.

We are also delighted to welcome Mark Adderley to the role of McLarens Regional Manager in London. Mark has been a valued member of the McLarens team for some years and I have every confidence in his abilities.”

Nigel Minett, Airclaims Managing Director, commented: “This is a hugely exciting time to be taking on the role of Airclaims MD. We continue to be the leading player in aviation loss adjusting, risk and asset management services and there is a significant opportunity for international expansion of this business.”
