GE RESPONSES FOR BOTH ENGINES: ESN 872383 AND 872387
22 March 2023 – GE Fleet Support Response:
Please see the following Final Solution
Due to the particular nature of this event and the uncertainty in loads sustained by the engines, it is not possible to evaluate serviceability of ESN 872383 and 872387. CF34 Product Line decision is to list the beforementioned ESNs on the service bulletins of hardware exposed to abnormal operating events. BJ SB 72-0048 & RJ SB 72-0032. However, if there is the need to evaluate serviceability on non-structural hardware nor main line bearings (blades, externals, etc.) a Special Inspection Workscope (SIW) would be required. If SIW is pursued, please contact the Customer Support team for further instructions and cost.

10 April 2023 – GE Response – CF34-3 Model & Product Leader,GE Aviation:
The “Abnormal Exposure” consideration is the rationale for GE’s recommendation. An “Abnormal Exposure” may occur when any GE Commercial Aircraft Product is subjected to events, circumstances or environments that reasonably suggest the potential or likely exposure to over-limit condition(s). These conditions may not have an over-limits inspection procedure currently established in maintenance publications. Sustained Aircraft damage to the left wing structure and forward landing gear from this event suggests an undamped load transmitted to the engines during landing. Unfortunately, GE Engineering does not have a study to evaluate this condition since it is outside the Product Certification Experience. Thus, it is not possible for us to evaluate engine serviceability.
Both SBs referenced in my response email are related to CF34-3 Hardware exposed to abnormal operating events:
Please note that these are Cat 9 SBs – GE recommendations.
In relation to the SIW to evaluate the condition of non-structural hardware (i.e. externals, blades, etc.), please contact – Alex Ebert – REMEA Regional Account Leader for further details.
Let me know if there are additional questions.
