SITUATION
A major Irish airline instructed McLarens Aviation to oversee the repair workshop input for two Regional Jet aero engines at their contracted maintenance facility.
SCENARIO
On presentation of the two engines at the workshop facility the MRO (Maintenance Repair Organisation), advised the McLarens Surveyor that in their opinion both engines were beyond economical repair.
OUTCOME
After surveying the condition of both engines, the McLarens Aviation surveyor determined that there were sufficient serviceable components available to enable one engine to be recovered from the two. The MRO agreed and one engine was successfully recovered and returned to the airline. McLarens Aviation estimates that the recovery of the one engine resulted in savings in excess of $500,000 to the airline.
