SITUATION
A helicopter crash was caused by a broken bolt in its rotor assembly.
SCENARIO
The subsequent lawsuit, covering personal injuries, aircraft damage and loss of aircraft use, involved the parts and engine manufacturers, the aircraft maintenance company and the affected passengers.
OUTCOME
Representing the insureds at a court-ordered mediation conference, we negotiated a pre-trial settlement of the lawsuit and a 26% reduction in the insurer’s anticipated final liability.
