Klaas Brand will drive the next phase of growth at McLarens BV, supported by new Director Maarten Schaap.
ROTTERDAM – JANUARY 2025: McLarens, the global claims services provider, has appointed Klaas Brand as Managing Director (MD) of its Netherlands operation, and Maarten Schaap has been promoted to Director.
As Managing Director of McLarens BV, Klaas will lead the executive management and oversee and lead the Dutch business. He manages offices in Eindhoven, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Schiphol and Zwolle.
Effective 1 January 2025, Klaas will take over the MD role from co-founder Gerrit Taal. Gerrit will remain in the business as a Board Director and will continue to serve clients and leverage his extensive knowledge base and industry network to support the continued growth of the company. His new role will also focus on knowledge transfer and building the next generation of adjusters at McLarens BV. He will also devote more well-earned time with his family after nearly 40 years in the industry.
Klaas is an industry professional with more than 30 years of experience culminating in his prior role as Operations Director at McLarens BV. During his career, Klaas has gained broad commercial market experience, handling the full spectrum of liability claims across all classes before focusing exclusively on major and complex commercial claims. He is frequently requested to give support as a mediator or project-coordinator in complex and multi-party claims.
In 2021, Klaas was elected to serve as the new three-year term Chairman of NIVRE, the Dutch Institute of Registered Experts/Registered Loss Adjusters and in 2024 he was re-elected for a further term. In 2025, he will take up Presidency of the European Federation of Loss Adjusting Experts (FUEDI) for one year. Klaas is also a member of De Letselschaderaad, an independent and umbrella organisation consisting of all parties involved in handling personal injury cases.
Klaas will be supported by new Director Maarten Schaap. Maarten, a civil engineer by background, has worked at the company for 15 years and has built up significant experience in civil and architectural damage cases, including numerous multi-million dollar CAR losses. Maarten’s joining the Executive not only brings in new leadership but also safeguards McLarens’ origins and position as the premier construction loss adjusting firm in the Netherlands.

The Executive is also supported by a senior management team of six senior loss adjusters: Nathalie van Beek, Gerwin Vos, Roeland Steenvoorden, Sydney Boogaard, Rudie van Veen, and Sander van Amelsvoort.
McLarens BV’s highly experienced adjusters deliver technical loss adjusting and investigating services focusing on construction, civil and mechanical engineering, energy, natural resources, and casualty-related losses. McLarens also delivers a full range of services on personal injury claims as well as medical advisory services.
