London, United Kingdom, 11 June 2021: In line with continued growth across the UK & Ireland, McLarens, the leading global insurance services provider, has expanded its Major Loss Practice with the appointment of Simon Shaw and Martin Allan to two new senior management positions.
As Head of Major Loss Practice for London & South-East and Scotland respectively, Simon and Martin will work alongside Gareth Bowers (Head of Major Loss – Midlands, Southwest and Wales), Darren Anderton (Head of Major Loss – North) and William Wilson (Head of Major Loss – Ireland), reporting into Executive Director, Neil Baldwin who takes the executive lead on Technical and Compliance matters. The Heads take responsibility for coordinating commercial property and business interruption-related major and complex loss activity in their region, leading on their own portfolio of losses, managing ring-fenced teams, controlling quality assurance and supporting further strategic growth. The appointments will strengthen McLarens’ complex and major loss capability at a regional level, with the Major Loss leadership expanding from three to five to reflect growth and increasing market demand. The newly created senior roles coincide with the internal appointments of Karl Evans, Ian Marenghi and Tim McGee to the team.
Simon is an experienced major loss specialist with over 30 years industry experience, having held senior management roles with insurers, brokers and loss adjusters. He began his loss adjusting career in the UK and later moved abroad where he held a number of senior positions in Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore and Philippines. Working across a range of different sectors including power, manufacturing, hotel & leisure and commercial property, Simon brings considerable multi-sector experience around complex and major losses. His expertise also includes responding to high profile terrorism incidents.
Previously Head of Operations – North for McLarens UK & Ireland, Martin has over 35 years’ experience, working across commercial property claims of all classes, both domestic and international. His expertise includes acting on multi-million-pound fire and flood losses, in addition to handling CAT duties across the globe. Based in Glasgow he has held senior management positions within McLarens’ Northern and Scottish operations since 2019.
