Biography

Tim joined the insurance industry in 1985 starting his career & gaining a strong grounding at Municipal Mutual Insurance Ltd. Tim progressed to public liability/employers liability claims handling & ultimately to trainee claims inspector position, gaining valuable experience before moving into Loss Adjusting during 1989.Tim successfully attained ACII (Distinction) in 1993 & ACILA (Distinction & double Institute prizewinner) during 2001.

Earlier in his career Tim has gained benefit from broad, diverse & invaluable experience with major Loss Adjusting players, including McLarens Toplis, summarised as; considerable general commercial work including business interruption, public liability (property damage), involved various Local Authorities,large domestic including high net worth, general fraud investigation, contractors all risks, goods in transit & major loss exposure covering all perils.

Throughout Tim’s Loss Adjusting career Tim has been selected & appointed designated adjuster for key clients. Furthermore, key management experience was gained in the capacity of National Key Account/Operations Manager including technical claims focal point, desktop fraud management, professional standards & FSA compliance, part of successful tender teams, audit, mentoring plus general troubleshooting & dispute resolution.

From 1995 onwards Tim has been involved with major losses including incidents such as the 1996 IRA Manchester bomb, Carlisle flood of 2005, South Yorkshire floods of 2007, Morpeth floods of 2008 & Cumbria floods of 2009.

Tim specifically wished to develop his career further choosing complex & major loss route & wished to work with like minded senior personnel with an emphasis on quality & a more bespoke service at the highest level. Tim was recruited by specialist Loss Adjusters during 2006 principally concentrating & gaining further valuable exposure to a wide range of commercial work in the North East, Yorkshire & Scotland including general SME type work, property owners, trade including motor trade, pubs & clubs, churches & listed buildings & general commercial as well as large & major losses.

Tim worked conscientiously to develop this opportunity & succeeded in building a strong reputation for fairness, pragmatism, timely service delivery, technical quality & adjusting ability with instructing principals & brokers alike.

Tim was recruited by McLarens during December 2011 as Executive Adjuster to handle a wide range of claims & develop the local offering. To date, Tim has been exposed to wide & varied experience .Tim’s professional background & career history have given him a clear understanding of claim ramifications, strategies & maintaining strong & accurate levels of communication with all stakeholders.

  • Proven track record of thorough and detailed investigation and significant experience dealing with Social Housing, Local Authority and Real Estate claims, dealing successfully with multiple stakeholders.
  • Worked abroad as part of a CAT team working in Bermuda 2014 (Storms Fay and Gonzalo) and specific assignments in Gibraltar and Malta.
  • Dealt with significant losses arising from major incidents IRA Manchester bomb (1996), Carlisle floods (2005), Hull and South Yorkshire floods (2007), Morpeth floods (2008), Cumbria floods (2009) and Cumbria floods (Storm Desmond 2015).
